Heat Mirror, An Insulating/Solar Control Glass Unit
Voted one of the top 100 inventions of the millennium by "Popular
Science Magazine", Heat Mirror is a low-emissivity coated film
product suspended inside an insulating glass unit. The result is
a triple unit with two air spaces, without the weight of triple
insulating glass and with far superior insulating and shading performance.
Nine different Heat Mirror coatings are available ranging from the
low-reflectance, high-light transmittance performance of Heat Mirror
88 through to the maximum shading performance of Heat Mirror 22
( excellent for large glass areas such as solariums).
Increased comfort
- Warmer around windows in winter because of higher R-value
- Cooler around windows in summer because of higher solar
control
Save on heating and cooling costs
- Higher R-values reduces heat loss in winter
- Higher solar control reduces heat buildup in summer
Higher sound control
- More interior comfort with reduced outside noise transfer
(STC 34 vs 29 for double glazed)
High ultraviolet protection
- 99.5% of ultraviolet radiation is blocked increasing the
life of fabrics, furniture, flooring and other items in the home
- 85% of near-infrared radiation is blocked also resulting
in reduced fading
Visually clear and colorless
- High performance with clear appearance
Flexibility of design
- Architects can environmentally tune a building with a family
of high performance Heat Mirror films
- Heat Mirror's design allows it to be combined with special
glass for specific requirements
High R-value, low U-value
- Excellent energy savings with R-values from
R4 to R11
- Save on the ever increasing costs of heating
your home
Low shading coefficient
- Excellent control of summer heat (solar gain)
with shading coefficients from 0.49 to 0.27 with clear glass
(excellent for solariums)
- Downsize HVAC system or prolong the life of
the existing system
